Description
Fazenda Sertao has produced coffee for over one hundred years. When Nazareth and José Isidro Pereira married in 1949 the couple became the farms second generation of coffee producers. The Farm is still run by the Pereira family with Nazareth and José’s son Francisco Isidro Pereira guiding the farm through a period of rapid change in recent years.
34 families live and work on the farm, receiving medicine and education. The farm produces four varieties of coffee, some food crops and Girolando cattle. Coffee is grown only where it is best suited; on top of hills where it is safe from frost and on the sides of hills where ample sun ensures uniform ripening.
