Who we are
Due to the minuscule size of the barista community in Iceland, everybody knows each other and the four of us bounced ideas back and forth regularly. Joining forces became a pleasingly logical step forwards for all of us and so in late August 2013, we teamed up and renamed Kaffismiðja Íslands to its current name: Reykjavík Roasters.
We have a passion for enhancing the local coffee culture. We want to raise the public awareness and appreciation for high quality coffee and we are doing so by making small, but essential, changes every day. There are lots of things that connect the four of us but we are also very different and we seek inspiration from various sources and we therefore find comfort in communication. We discuss every single matter that needs to be decided on, which in turn helps us in honing our joined focus and direction.
Although acting locally, we try to partake in the global discourse of high quality coffee. Our direction is, and will be, towards higher cup quality, more traceability, eco-friendly innovations and conveying proper appreciation of every single producing link in the chain from harvesting to brewing; those are things that we’ll never compromise.
We are working on making our coffee available to everybody who wants to try it, wherever they might be in the world. We are, however, facing a few challenges so we are not able to receive orders outside Iceland via our webshop at this time.
